Dolphin League Swim Meet Friday 8/7

Championship Dolphin
League Swim Meet on Friday, August 7th at 3:00 p.m.
The Dolphin League Championship Swim Meet will be held next Friday, August 7th. Warm-up begins at 3:00 p.m., and the meet will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. Please be sure to sign-up at the pool, the sheets will be posted by the end of this week. To register, highlight the swimmer's name on the Dolphin sign up sheet, then highlight the events they wish to race. You may also e-mail Coach Dawn directly at kenatact@aol.com with the swimmer's name, and events they wish to swim. If your child is not planning to swim in the meet, simply cross their name out on the sign up sheet. The deadline for entry is Wednesday, August 5th at 6:30 p.m. for the sign up sheet, and 10:00 p.m. Wed for e-mailed entries.
**Attention parents of swimmers participating in meet: please be prepared to volunteer as a Timer at the event, or bring a donation for the snackbar.
Season End Celebration on Saturday, August 8th at 5:00 p.m.
The WaveRiders and Tigersharks are all invited to the season end celebration and dinner on Saturday, August 8th at 5:00 p.m. The party will be held at Stonecreek Pool, and dinner will be served. Ribbons and medals from the championship meets will be distributed, and it will be a great way to celebrate the end of the summer swimming season. Please plan to bring water bottles or a dessert (i.e., cookies) that do not require to be served.
Fall Registration Monday, August 3rd through Thursday, August 6th
The Fall Tigersharks season begins Tuesday, September 8th and runs through Friday, November 20th. Registration is $225.00 per swimmer, with a $20.00 sibling discount, and sign-ups will be available at the pool next week. We will be offering Learn-to-swim classes at 4:00, 4:30 and 5:00, and Advanced Learn-to-swim classes at 5:00 p.m. Additional sessions may be offered as needed.
Please feel free to print the enclosed 2009 Registration Form and bring it to the pool with your payment.

Wave Rider Updates!

Dear WaveRider Families,
I really can’t believe all we have left is the Championship meet! We have 86 qualified swimmers which is a record high for Woodbridge. Please remember, even if your swimmer did not make a qualifying time, they can still participate and swim a race of their choice. We would love to have 100% participation if possible!!
Dawn will be talking with many of you at the pool this next week but if you would like you may email her the races your child would like to swim in you can reach her atkenatact@aol.com . For the sake of the team, Dawn may make the decision for your child depending on their times in certain events. Please note that she forms the relays based on times, not putting friends with each other. This is the only meet that counts towards our standings with ISL and we are really trying hard for a top spot!! Did I tell you I sometimes get a little competitive?
As soon as I receive information from ISL concerning the meet, I’ll pass it along. All the details and times will be included. I’m hoping it will be in the next few days since I leave for a little vacation of Friday and won’t be back until next Wed.
This reminds me…We need to start thinking about a gift for Coach Dawn! In the past, we have collect $ for a group gift, but I think this year we’ll change things up. At the end of the season party, I’ll have a basket to collect cards and I think it would be a wonderful idea for families to write some words of appreciation and perhaps enclose a small monetary amount or gift card gift. This way Dawn can decide what to do with her gift! If anyone else has any other thoughts or ideas please let me know. I’m just worried about collecting $ since I’ll be out of town.
Tina Ngo, Alex Tran’s mom, is working hard with pulling together the party which will be right after the championship meet beginning at 5:00 at StoneCreek Pool. This is always a great way to end the season so I hope everyone can make it. Each swimmer will receive a trophy and ribbons and medals from the meet will be handed out. This is for both the Tigersharks and the WaveRider teams.
Please keep checking your emails in the next few days and as always, thank you for all your help in making this the best ever!! With our coaches, swimmers and parents this is an incredible group and I could not have asked for a kinder more generous group to work with.

ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello Everyone!!
Change of plans for our next swim meet!! We will be swimming AT Greentree instead of our pool for the July 18th meet!
We ran into a problem with our hired official so we are needing to use Greentree’s parent officials. It’s much easier for them to host the meet since they will not need to move their equipment. They have offered to not only host our team, but split their snack bar profit as well which is a very generous offer and one I can’t pass up.
Directions to the pool:
4299 Belvedere
Take Culver North
Turn Right onto Walnut.
Turn Right onto Franciscan Street (1st light)
Turn Left onto Belvedere which ends at the pool.
The deck is small, but they have lots of room outside the pool area for EZ-Ups. Parking is allowed on all the streets connecting to the pool so you may have to circle around a bit.
This is a very competitive and one of the top ISL teams. Our coaches really want a strong showing from our swimmers so we can show off our skills. Last year, our team came in 2nd place in overall points and Greentree took 3rd right behind us. Let’s show them what we’ve got!!
All our parent volunteer positions will stay the same except for pool deck set up and lane card runners. These positions will be reassigned to help with clean up at the Championship meet on August 8th.
