Volunteer Opportunities
Book Fair (Spring and Fall):
Volunteers needed to help set up tables and books
in the MPR. Volunteers needed while children shop
for books during classroom time, and during lunch
and recess. Help children shop, assist cashier,
restock shelves. Also, need evening help during Ice
Cream Social and Back to School Night. (Fall Book
Fair setup September 16 at 2:00 p.m., sale runs
through September 23.)
Earthquake Kit Assembly: On
September 13, put together individual earthquake
kits and deliver to classrooms.
Gift Wrap Fundraiser Accounting:
October 18, verify money and totals turned in by
each student by class. Prepare money and checks for
bank deposit.
Guy Stuff: A special night for 6th
grade fathers and sons. A guest speaker will
explain some of the physical changes that puberty
brings. Volunteers (5th or 6th grade parents)
needed to set up and clean up. A coordinator is
needed to organize the event.
Hospitality: Need volunteers to
help bake treats, side dishes, etc. for staff
throughout the year.
Ice Cream Social: Special free
event held September 16 at the Stone Creek lunch
tables. Need volunteers to help set up, serve ice
cream and clean up.
IPSF Ambassador: A liaison between
the school/PTA and the Irvine Public School
Foundation. Attends a few meetings a year to
receive information on IPSF events, then reports on
them at a PTA meeting. Helps to coordinate IPSF
publicity at the school.
Jogathon Chairperson: Lead a team
of volunteers in planning the annual Jogathon.
Includes coordinating volunteers, finding corporate
sponsors, and general event planning.
Jogathon Committee: Assist
chairperson in planning the annual school Jogathon
Jogathon: March 4, 2011.
Volunteers needed to set up, clean up, count laps,
pass out t-shirts and water to classrooms, count
donations, verify lap totals, and pass out
popsicles.
Mother Daughter Tea: A special
night for 5th grade moms and daughters, with a
nurse to explain the physical changes that puberty
brings. Assist in bringing baked goods for the tea.
Decorate, centerpieces for the tables. Take
pictures. Run pictures to be developed. Clean up.
Red Ribbon Week: Decorate the
school grounds and surrounding area. Help with the
collection of pennies. Need someone available to
assist at recess and lunch hour for red ribbon
activities. Take down decorations after the week is
over.
Retail Rebate Program: Coordinate
rebate programs with grocery storees and retail
stores (1-2 hours a month.)
Spirit Wear: Divide orders and
deliver to classrooms.
Sixth Grade Promotion: Plan and
implement promotion ceremony on June 15 and evening
party at the North Lake Beach Club. Coordinate
volunteers.
Star Party: Special Family Fun
Night held at the school site to explore the stars
and planets through various telescopes. Need
volunteers to help supervise telescopes and help
sell tickets.
Teacher’s Appreciation Week:
Coordinates Teacher Appreciation week by planning a
breakfast and luncheon for teachers. Also
coordinates flowers/cards for students to bring in
one day during the week for their teacher. Need
volunteers to help bring in fruit, sides and baked
goods for breakfast and luncheon.
Walk to School Day: Assist with
distribution of bracelets to the designated
greeting stations. Greet, hand out
bracelets/"rewards" to students as they arrive at
school.
Year End Party: Held on June 3 at
Woodpine Park. Need volunteers to help set up,
assist with pizza and drink sales, and clean up.
