Public Schools Foundation Celebrates Irvine’s “Spirit of Excellence” at Gala Event

July 12, 2010, Irvine, CA - The Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF) will celebrate the “Spirit of Excellence” by honoring distinguished alumni of the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) in IPSF’s inaugural Gala & Auction. The black-tie event will be held on September 10, 2010 at KIA Motors Headquarters, 111 Peters Canyon Road, Irvine, California 92606. The event is expected to bring together more than 400 community members and supporters of education, and raise much needed funds for the 27,000 students attending schools in Irvine.

“This represents a new and unique opportunity for our community to support education.” said IPSF CEO Neda Zaengle. “We are excited about the many partnerships this event will foster, and we are looking forward to a dynamic evening, honoring outstanding graduates of the Irvine Unified School District.”

The event honorees are Major League Baseball player, Garrett Atkins (Athletics), former NBA player, Adam Keefe (Athletics), and Dr. Richard Baick (Science). Jeremy Siskind (Music), a highly distinguished jazz musician and Nasim Pedrad (Art), a current cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” are honorees and also scheduled to perform at the gala.

The “Spirit of Excellence” co-chairs are IPSF Board members Carol Choi and Robin Lubitz. The gala committee is comprised of the following prominent community leaders: Yael Aronoff, Diane Aviles, Wendy Bokota, Cheryl Braun, Lauren Brooks, Mary Brown, Cinda Churm, Laura Cook, Kristin Crellin, Steffanie Early, Yanina Feinerman, Katrina Herrera, Jan Hilliard, Veronica Jacobson, Farrah N. Khan, Patty Le-Narula, Grace Neary, Lita Robinow, Debbie Rugani, Lesley Sattin, Beatrice Tseng, Cheryl Van Camp, Brad Van Patten, Julie Walker, Shareen Young, and Neda Zaengle (IPSF CEO). “This event is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the talents of our Irvine students, both past and present.” said gala co-chair Robin Lubitz, “It will be an enjoyable evening and the proceeds will help our schools continue to provide programs that help Irvine students achieve their full potential.”

The gala will feature a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner, live auction, performances and dancing. Tax deductible tickets are $200 each.
